Sky Q enhancement project under way throughout Northern Ireland

After months of anticipation, Sky Q – launched earlier this year in Northern Ireland – is being rolled out to homes across the country. In order for all residents to be able to enjoy the benefits of Sky Q, a large-scale project is now under way throughout Northern Ireland to enhance communal blocks so that they are Sky Q ready.

 

Described as the next generation in home entertainment, Sky Q lets you watch different programmes simultaneously on up to five screens around the home while recording up to four other channels – a first in the UK and Ireland. Existing Sky customers have the option to upgrade to Sky Q and new customers will receive a Sky Q box when they join Sky.

Charity fundraising at C&K

At C&K, we always support any of our team taking part in activities to raise money for charity. Over the past couple of weeks, three members of the team are taken on gruelling challenges to raise funds for various cancer charities.

 

Joanne Thomson, who works in our marketing team, has successfully completed a women’s 10K, climbed Ben Nevis and to round off the punishment, completed the Edinburgh half marathon in consecutive weeks - all in aid of Breast Cancer Care.

Campbell & Kennedy become a Zero waste to landfill company

The team at Campbell & Kennedy (C&K) is proud to announce that we have become a ‘zero waste to landfill’ company.

 

All waste generated by our company is now properly segregated into dry mixed recyclables (paper, plastic, card) metals, glass and food.

 

All recyclable materials will be reprocessed for further use, whilst the small amount of residual or general waste will be used to produce a waste derived fuel, which is used in the production of sustainable energy.

Campbell & Kennedy become a TrustMark Registered Company

Campbell & Kennedy (C&K) has become a TrustMark registered company for domestic CCTV, aerial and satellite installations.

 

TrustMark is a government endorsed quality scheme which operates a framework of 30 scheme operators in the repair, maintenance and improvement sector.

 

The scheme operators, which include numerous trading standards organisations, carry out quality assessments of companies in their industries, in order to certify them as TruskMark registered.

Campbell & Kennedy to launch Switch It Off campaign

Campbell & Kennedy (C&K) are launching a Switch It Off campaign as part of their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint and as part of the company’s ISO 14001 management system objective.

 

C&K will have posters and stickers on appliances and light switches around the office reminding staff to switch off all lights and electrical equipment, such as computers, when not in use.

 

There will also be reminders in the company’s internal bulletin and a slideshow video giving advice on how to save electricity, which will run in C&K’s reception area.

Campbell & Kennedy gains Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Authorisation

Campbell & Kennedy (C&K), one of the UK’s leading solar PV installations and electrical contractors, received Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) authorisation on 27 March 2015.                                                                                                                                                   

The company already holds MCS, RECC and Green Deal Installer accreditations. This FCA authorisation will enable the company to provide credit broking services to their clients in orders to assist with the financing of renewable energy/green deal technologies.

 

By law, businesses can only conduct regulated financial service activities in the UK if they are authorised by the FCA.

Campbell & Kennedy appoints new Technical Director

Campbell & Kennedy (C&K) are delighted to announce that Tom Carnie has been promoted to Technical Director and has agreed to join the Board of Directors with effect from 1st April 2015.

 

Tom, who has been with the company for five years, has over 35 years’ experience in the satellite/aerial industry and was influential in setting industry standards and system developments from the earliest days of satellite television. Previous roles include heading up the technical departments of Grundig and Astra at the inception of satellite broadcasting.

Campbell & Kennedy has sponsored local youth football team Kilbowie Union FC’s 2008 squad.

 

Kilbowie FC, based in Clydebank, was established in 2011 and has squads aged from 6 to 12 years old.

 

The club has quickly grown, just two years ago Kilbowie only had two squads now they have seven.

Campbell & Kennedy raise funds for Cash for Kids Mission Christmas with Clyde 1

Campbell & Kennedy (C&K) raised over £400 for Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas campaign by participating in Clyde 1’s Christmas jumper day on the 10th of December.

 

Cash for Kids is a network of local charities established by Bauer Radio, which operates in 21 areas across the UK. Its Mission Christmas campaign focuses on raising funds to give children in poverty across local communities presents to open on Christmas day.

Campbell & Kennedy scares up donations for local foodbank on Halloween

Campbell & Kennedy dressed up for Halloween this year in order to raise funds for Glasgow NW Foodbank.

 

The Scotstoun-based Foodbank is part of the The Trussell Trust, an organisation which aims to provide emergency food to local people in crisis through many different branches across the UK.

 

Several C&K team members dressed up as many different characters in order to gather donations, including Spider-Man, a Witch, a Medieval Knight.

A family firm which grew into a nationwide enterprise has been awarded the Best Delivery of Customer Service award at a prestigious ceremony hosted by SELECT, the campaigning trade body for the electrotechnical industry in Scotland.

 

Campbell & Kennedy, whose Scottish base is in Clydebank but has offices throughout the UK, won the accolade, sponsored by Blue Sky pensions.

Campbell & Kennedy has arranged sponsorship with Scotland’s oldest amateur open athletics club the Clydesdale Harriers.

 

The Clydesdale Harriers, who are based in Clydebank, where C&K is headquartered, promote all aspects of athletics from road running and cross-country to hill running and track and field.

 

As one of the UK’s leading installation companies Campbell & Kennedy’s sponsorship has helped the Harriers purchase a new marquee which will be used at athletics events throughout the country.

Campbell & Kennedy expands further and opens new office in Aberdeenshire

This expansion, which follows the opening of the company’s Northern Ireland office in 2013, will allow the company to better serve existing and future clients in the area. Campbell & Kennedy has recently been appointed to deliver a number of electrical contracting and solar PV installation contracts for new build housing in Aberdeen.

The International Organization of Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-government organisation and the world’s largest developer of voluntary international standards. ISO gives world-class specifications for products, services and systems, to ensure quality, safety and efficiency. ISO 9001:2008 sets out the criteria for quality management systems (QMS) and is focused on delivering consistent customer service and improving internal processes. ISO 14001:2004 sets the criteria for environmental management systems and provides organisations with the tools to measure and improve their environmental impact in areas such as waste management, energy consumption and use of natural resources.

C&K Managing Director Gerry Kennedy presents awards at local football team's award night

Gerry Kennedy, Managing Director of Campbell & Kennedy, attended the Player of the Year award night for local football team, Cambuslang Thistle, on the 14th of June.

 

The club, which C&K has sponsored for two years running, hold an annual award ceremony in Eastfield Community Centre, Cambuslang. On the night, awards are given to players for numerous categories such as Player of the Year and Most Improved. The nominees are voted for by the coach, secretary, manager and players, with the winners announced on the night.

at800, which is the organisation established to tackle the potential disruption to the Freeview bandwidth due to 4G interference, recently appointed C&K to be one of three contractors assigned to resolve the issue in the UK, with C&K covering Scotland and Northen Ireland.

Campbell & Kennedy selected as one of three companies by at800 to resolve disruption to Freeview from 4G at 800 MHz

In July last year, Campbell & Kennedy (C&K) reported that it had been officially appointed by at800 as one of a number of contractors fully trained to resolve any Freeview problems that occurred due to the 4G roll-out. The company has now been appointed as just one of three companies that at800 are taking forward to assist with any 4G issues and will cover Scotland and Northern Ireland.

 

Both 4G mobile services and digital TV use bands of frequencies. The 800 MHz frequencies used by some 4G services are next to the frequencies used for Freeview. TVs and set-top boxes that receive Freeview may have the TV service blocked by these 4G signals; there is a very small chance this may cause disruption to a viewer’s Freeview service.
